This December my friend Sara and I decided that we needed to shoot with the sunrise.
We both woke up at 5 am and drove from opposite directions to meet in Malibu as the sun started to creep over the horizon. As we drove down into Malibu to find this particular beach, we passed by all of the blackened land and burnt cars. It was a very eerie feeling at first sight, but then as the light changed the chard earth looked like a new beginning. We went down to the water and it was absolutely freezing. The light was exactly what we hoped it would be. I shot these using 120mm film.
